Love can strike anywhere, even on social media.
Kelly was introduced to a dating app called Plenty of Fish, where she met Tyler. After surfing the dating app, she ran across Tyler’s profile and added him as a friend. After a few hours, Tyler, captivated by her beauty, sent her a message. And, of course, she messaged him back. After a couple of days, they decided to exchange numbers.
A couple of weeks passed, and on April 13, 2019, Tyler invited her to eat Thai Food. Kelly told him, “I didn’t like that type of food.” Then I suggested we could meet at Sonic, and he agreed to meet there.
Once I arrived, I was nervous about meeting a stranger. I wanted to make sure that he looked the same as the person on the dating site, so I slid down in my car seat, watching him look for me as I continued to watch him to see what type of person he could be. I thought to myself, he seems harmless.
I called my cousin with excitement in my voice; I said, “He’s here. He’s tall and handsome. What should I do?” I couldn’t build my courage up to get out of the car. My cousin said, “Girl, get out of the car and introduce yourself.” He started texting me, asking me if I was there. After a few minutes of talking and laughing with my cousin, I finally exited the car. Tyler was excited about meeting this beautiful woman and asked Kelly for a formal dinner.
Their love story blossomed from that moment on. They continued dating, enjoying each other’s company, talking and laughing together. It was a great year!
After years of dating, he asked her to be his wife on January 21, 2023.
Tell us about the proposal, like any other day. We got off from work. Tyler asked me to go out to my favorite restaurant. We got dressed and went to the Townhall downtown Florence. We had steak and shared a bottle of their best wine over a candlelight dinner. Everything was perfect! After dinner, we walked around downtown holding hands and talking about how good it felt to have each other. Tyler said, “He was building up his nerves to ask the big question.” Once we got to the car, he opened my door to let me in. When I got in, he dropped down in front of me. Then pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I was surprised. I could not believe that this was happening. I was so excited. And I said, “Yes.”
After celebrating for a few days, we shared the good news with our families. My mom thought I was playing around. I had to Facetime her and show off my ring. She was so happy for us.
What do you love about each other? Tyler loves everything about Kelly. She is always there to listen and encourage me to do better. Kelly lifts me when I am down. She’s a beautiful person inside and out. I love how Tyler makes me feel like I’m the only person in the world. I love his personality and smile. He’s a great partner.
