Karissa and Alandus will celebrate 8 years together on May 23, 2022. They were coworkers at a restaurant, and both worked third shift. Instead of asking for her number, Alandus got a close coworker to give him Karissa’s phone number. With the quickness, he texted her that same day. Karissa had a rule with herself not to date coworkers because it could cause drama, so they started hanging out as friends. They had an instant connection and one thing led to another. Some like to say their eyes met and the rest was history. Alandus made the decision to ask Karissa for her hand in marriage and included both their families in the proposal on February 14, 2021.

Alandus popped the question where his life first started, at his mother’s home.
What do you remember about this day?
I thought he was playing since he likes to joke around so much.
Tell me about the proposal?
Alandus: Since we have been together for so long, it was time for me to make Karissa, my wifey. I ultimately made the decision to ask for her hand in marriage before I would lose her.
Karissa: I never thought he was going to ask me to be his wife, but he was listening. We really love each other and just want to spend our life together.
What do you like about each other?
I love that Karissa is a loving, caring person, and a great mother.
I love that Alandus is loving, caring, a great father and a hard worker.
What do you like to do together?
We like to travel and see new things together.
