How did they meet?
They were co-workers, and both worked the same shift. Instead of asking for her number, Jackie got a close coworker to give him Shanequa’s phone number. With quickness, he texted her that same day. Shanequa had a rule with herself not to date coworkers because it could cause drama, so they started hanging out as friends. They had an instant connection and one thing led to another. Some like to say their eyes met and the rest was history. Jackie decided to ask Shanequa for her hand in marriage and included both their families in the proposal on November 27, 2022.
What do you remember about this day?
(Jackie) I remember having a lot of things weighing on my mind that day. We were out shopping and I
had an employee distract her so I could purchase the ring. Originally wanted to propose on Christmas. I was so anxious I decided to propose the same day I bought the ring. Once we got back to the house from shopping, I secretly discussed with the kids what I wanted them to say to Mom when we went to the kitchen.
Tell me about the proposal.
I remember being in the kitchen unpacking groceries. I turned my back and all I heard was my daughter’s voice asking me “Will you marry Mr. J?” I then focused my attention on Jackie down on one knee. For some reason, I didn’t see the box in his hand. Once he opened it, I saw the ring. I said” What is this?!” before saying “Yes”.
What do you love about each other?
I love his sense of humor, how he caters to my needs, how he is supportive, loves sincerely, his intellect, his compassion for people, and his smile. Jackie: loves my honesty, confidence, business savvy, facial features, nurturing, and femininity.
What do you like to do together?
We love watching movies, cooking, going to shows/concerts, and occasionally traveling.
